Description
NATHANIEL R. JONES, Circuit Judge. Plaintiff Lawrence Hill, an Ohio inmate, appeals the district court's order of remittitur of his entire punitive damages award, in a civil rights action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 (1988). Hill charges the defendant, Terry Morris, the Deputy Superintendent of Treatment at the institution in which Hill is imprisoned, with cruel and unusual punishment violative of the Eighth Amendment, by way of improper inmate medical care. Defendant cross-appeals, challenging, on several grounds, the judgment on the jury verdict for plaintiff. For the reasons that follow, we reverse the district court's "remittitur" and affirm in all other respects.
